Katy Perry was performing her hit “Roar” as she flew above the crowd in San Francisco on a giant butterfly machine. But things took an ugly turn when the technical prop suddenly malfunctioned. She told her audience at that moment, “Sing it now. Sing it!” and held out her mic before the butterfly suddenly dropped, making her slightly lose her balance.The spectacle took a shocking turn when the prop suddenly dropped, causing a visible jolt as it descended rapidly. But the singer quickly regained her composure despite the scare. She continued singing her 2013 hit Roar without missing a beat.

“You’re going to hear me roar,” she sang, while still holding on tightly to the butterfly prop. Following the concert, Perry took to her Instagram Stories to troll herself over the incident. She jokingly posted a picture of herself with her mouth wide open during the snafu and wrote over it, “Goodnight San Fran.”
A source told ET Online that the singer only suffered a minor bump but all is “good,” adding, “She paused slightly but then kept singing, almost never missing a beat.”

A concerned fan questioned the need for such theatrics, writing, “Why do they keep doing dangerous stunts like this?”

The on-stage scare comes shortly after the star confirmed long-standing rumors about her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom.
