Sharing a picture of Suchir from the day of his death, Poornima Rao took to the social media platform X, formerly called as Twitter, to question the investigation and raise concerns about the possible use of sedatives. Sharing a crucial detail, she wrote, "Suchir’s picture on the day of his death at 7:30 pm shows him getting dinner. This is from CCTV footage. OCME saw this video and still concluded he was depressed and called it suicide."Further expressing her doubts, she added, "Another cover by OCME: they told our attorney that GHB is endogenous three days after death. However, we found that the endogenous GHB level is less than 5000 ng/L. The autopsy report states that GHB will only be included in the toxicology report if it exceeds 50,000 ng/L. Combined with alcohol, this acts as a sedative, potentially causing loss of muscle control or even unconsciousness. We are waiting for the toxicologist to provide a written report."
In another post, she alleged some of the CCTVs near her son's vicinity, "One more suspensions finding CCTV in garage of Suchir’s apartment and neighbors stopped working. One of the elevator CCTV also stopped working. This m*rder conspiracy is executed over long term planning and watching Suchir."

She also shared other people's post who shared her sentiments. One X user identified as Mia Stretch commented, "Suchir DID NOT Take his own Life! Suchir was not depressed—utterly the opposite! He was a fearless force, brimming with fierce determination, unshakable joy, and a blazing vigor, pouring every ounce of his radiant spirit into a relentless pursuit of justice." In response Ramarao replied, "He was like that since he was born." "Its staged as suicide we know," she replied to another user.
Balaji had turned a whistleblower against OpenAI shortly before his death. He had publicly raised ethical concerns about the AI giant's practices. An initial investigation had concluded that Balaji's death was an act of suicide. However, since then, his family called for an FBI investigation and highlighted several lapses, alleging that their son was murdered. A re-opened investigation and a 13-page report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) last month yet again concluded that Balaji died by suicide.

What has Suchir Balaji's mother said in the past?
Suchir Balaji's mother has raised concerns over his son's death in the past too. Last month, in a social media post, Poornima Rao said, “We received the autopsy report last Friday. Our counsel and we disagree with their decision”. She stated that the report contains “tons of inconsistencies” and that its conclusions do not align with the facts. The family has now taken their own steps in the investigation, sending the recovered hair sample for testing. “We are fighting for justice and will not back down,” Ramarao added. However, despite the repeated allegations authorities have said that Suchir Balaji died by suicide. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) released a joint statement and a 13-page medical examiner's report in February, reaffirming that Balaji's death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to Fortune. The medical examiner's report stated, "The OCME found no evidence or information to establish a cause and manner of death for Mr. Balaji other than a suicide by self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head." The SFPD also conducted an independent investigation and concluded, "Based on the information SFPD reviewed, there is insufficient evidence to find Mr. Balaji’s death was the result of a homicide."

The conspiracy surrounding the case gained traction with support from Elon Musk, who also suggested possible foul play. In January of this year, Musk reiterated his worries, calling the situation "extremely concerning" while sharing a video from Tucker Carlson's YouTube channel that questioned the case being classified as a 'suicide.'The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
