Reports hint that Trump was informed months ago by Pam Bondi that his name appears "multiple times" in the Epstein files

President Donald Trump faced a fresh crisis Wednesday after it was reported his name appears in US justice department files about Jeffrey Epstein and the Congress subpoenaed testimony from the sex offender’s partner in crime Ghislaine Maxwell. The White House, however, pushed back after reports of Trump was told in May that he was among hundreds of names mentioned in justice department documents relating to late convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. In response, a White House spokesman called it a "fake news story".

Trump appears to have been caught in a lie after telling reporters last week that US Attorney General Pam Bondi had told him his name doesn't appear in the Epstein files. "Did she tell you at all that your name appeared in the files?" a reporter can be heard asking in the press spray, which featured him and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

"No, no. She's given us just a very quick briefing. And in terms of the credibility of the different things that they've seen, and I would say that these files were made up by Comey. They were made up by Obama. They were made up by Biden," Trump claimed. Trump has time and again claimed the same thing about Jeffrey Epstein files in several scathing Truth Social rants over the week.

"We went through years of that with the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax — with all of the different things that we had to go through. We've gone through years of it. But she's handled it very well. And it's going to be up to her. Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release," he said.

Trump was informed about Jeffrey Epstein files?

Reports hint that Trump was informed months ago by Pam Bondi that his name appears "multiple times" in the Epstein files. He was told on the same day she advised against releasing all documents publicly, according to a new report by the Wall Street Journal.

Senior administration officials told the Journal that Bondi met with Trump in May and informed him that his name had surfaced more frequently in the materials than previously believed.

Bondi allegedly told Trump he was listed among hundreds of high-profile figures in the files connected socially to the late financier and convicted sex offender. The files, officials claimed, contain "unverified hearsay" about Trump and others who were known to have moved in Epstein’s social circles.

According to the report, Bondi advised against making the documents public because they included child pornography and the personal information of survivors. During the meeting, Trump reportedly deferred to her on whether further documents should be released.

Officials emphasised that the president’s name appearing in the files does not imply any wrongdoing or criminal connection to Epstein’s sex trafficking network.

Administration sources also told the Journal that the May meeting between Trump and Bondi was a routine presidential briefing that touched on a range of matters, and that Epstein was not the main focus. Law enforcement agencies have not accused Trump of any wrongdoing related to Epstein, and he has never been identified as a target of any investigation.

Was Elon Musk right?

Former DOGE chief Elon Musk's tweet about Trump's connection with Jeffrey Epstein has re-surfaced amid the latest revelation. Now, several influencers, including noted MAGA supporters, are raking up Elon Musk's old tweet about Trump appearing in the Epstein files.

Weeks ago, as he was feuding with President Trump over the Big Beautiful Bill, Musk tweeted: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

The Tesla CEO, however, deleted his post days after making explosive claims. Elon Musk recently defended Trump after the WSJ report about the birthday letter was out. “It really doesn’t sound like something Trump would say tbh," he said.
