Virgin River has just broken some serious records after being renewed for its eighth season.

The fan-favourite's TV series is based on Robyn Carr's book, showcasing the relationships between characters in small town Virgin River. It is the longest-running live action scripted series, surpassing Jane Fonda's Grace and Frankie and Orange is the New Black.

Virgin River is getting a Season 8. Yes, you read that right. The hit show, often described as the ultimate escapist comfort watch, has just broken a serious record after being renewed for yet another season.

“On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Netflix’s Tudum of the renewal. Earlier this year, the official Virgin River Instagram revealed that season seven of the show is officially in production, so there’s still plenty of time before season eight lands on our screens.

Viewers last returned to Virgin River in December 2024, with the series ending on an almighty cliffhanger about Charmaine and her twins. Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, but there is a while to go before that reaches screens, with season 7 still yet to be released!

What can fans expect from Virgin River Season 7? The seventh season will explore the honeymoon phase for Mel and Jack as they build their lives on the farm, which comes with its own obstacles, as teased by Smith.

"Season 7 will find Mel and Jack taking their first steps into marriage as they start to plan for and build a life and family together.

"Meanwhile, Doc and Hope will work together to protect the clinic and the integrity of the town from outsiders," Smith added on season 7, which will feature two new cast members.

She arrives in Virgin River to evaluate Doc’s clinic—but ends up crossing paths with someone from her own past. Meanwhile, Riverdale’s Cody Kearsley takes on the role of Clay, a rodeo-savvy newcomer searching for his long-lost sister after they were separated in foster care.
