Where is Trump? Health questions fuel speculation over his absence, social media explodes
President Donald Trump has been trending on social media platforms, especially X (formerly known as Twitter) over the last few days. But, this time it's not due to tariff announcement or executive order that have been a key concern globally. Trump has been the topic of discussion due to growing concerns about his health.

Posts with the phrase “Trump is dead” have taken over the platform, leaving many pondering over the President’s health and well-being. Rumours claiming that Trump has died are circulating widely on social media platforms but the speculation has no official basis.

When was Trump last seen?

President Trump was last seen attending a cabinet meeting on August 26 amid his growing feud with the US Central Bank. White House has issued no confirmation of any health emergency. But on social media, search terms such as "Is Trump dead?" and "Trump is dead" remained the top trending trends on Saturday as the internet remained concerned over the President's health.

Concerns around Trump's health has been in the spotlight for sometime now, especially after the US President was recently spotted with bruising on his right hand. Questions are being raised about Trump's absence from the public spotlight with online chatter suggesting the US President has gone ‘missing’ from public view.

His schedule for August 30 and 31 also does not list any public events, as per Roll Call, the Washington-based publication. This seems to have added fuel to the fire.

Trump's health sparks concerns

Questions about Trump's health were first raised in July when he appeared with a bruise on his hand and ankle swelling. But the White House downplayed it and said Trump got the bruise from frequent handshaking. In July, the White House confirmed Trump, who is on course to become the oldest sitting US president in history, had been diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency.

CVI is common in the US and among people above the age of 70. It means veins struggle to pump blood from the legs back to the heart, leading to the type of swollen cankles Trump has also been trying to conceal in public.

During a July press briefing, White House Karoline Leavitt read a memo from Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, which acknowledged the president had shown “some minor bruising” on the back of his hand and also attributed it to his taking of aspirin, which thins the blood.

Moreover, Vice President JD Vance's recent remarks in an interaction has also fuelled speculations over Trump’s health. In an interview with USA Today, Vance said he is prepared to take over as the President of United States in the event of a “terrible tragedy”.

“He’s the last person making phone calls at night, and he’s the first person who wakes up and the first person making phone calls in the morning. Yes, terrible tragedies happen. But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people," he said during the interaction.

“And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days," Vance added.

The Simpsons prediction

The bizarre theories around Trump's health have also brought back spotlight on The Simpsons, with users claiming the show predicted Trump’s death in August 2025. One viral video shows a Trump-like character collapsing from chest pain during a live White House address, with the narration calling it among the show’s “most disturbing predictions” and alleging the episode was later pulled from streaming sites.

On social media, users are actively circulating their own theories and observations about the president’s disappearance from public view.

“President Trump hasn’t been seen in public since Tuesday and has no events scheduled all weekend. There are rumours saying he’s dead. I think he just has a big golf tournament to play," a user wrote.

Another stated, “I’m not saying Trump is dead. I’m just saying he hasn’t been seen in 3 days, has no public appearances scheduled for the next 3 days, has had swollen ankles, trouble walking, bruises on his hand with vein issues, and his VP said yesterday he’s ready to step in."
