Stimulus payment in October: US citizens set to receive the deposit soon? Check amount, eligibility and key details

Despite various rumours and noise on social media regarding stimulus payment, the truth is that there is no national program to support it. Several reports online are claiming a new stimulus check in varying amounts of $1,390 or $1,702 or $2,000 coming to Americans this year, but these are false. There has been no official confirmation from Congress or the Internal Revenue Service to support these claims.

However, residents of Alaska are waiting for a new round of payments from the Alaska Permanent Fund (PFD) which benefits thousands of citizens and also aims to promote residency in a state that is seeking to improve its economy and development. The Alaska PFD was created in the 19802 and uses a portion of the state's oil revenues to support the economy of its residents as it provides stimulus checks that are key to keeping its economy stable and being able to lead a better life when it comes to purchasing basic services.

The October dates are just around the corner and many are wondering about the payment dates and requirements, here is everything you need to know.

Stimulus payment checks dates revealed

The next payment dates are as follows:

Dividend requests for 2025 that are in:

"Eligible - Unpaid" status until September 18, 2025 will be distributed on October 2, 2025.

Requests for 2025 dividends that are in "Eligible - Unpaid" status until October 13, 2025 will be distributed on October 23, 2025.

2025 dividend applications that are "Eligible - Unpaid" as of November 12, 2025, will be distributed on November 20, 2025.

Are you eligible for stimulus payments?

To be eligible, you must meet these requirements:

Full-year resident: You were a resident of Alaska for the entire 2024 calendar year.

Intention to remain: Have the intention to remain as a resident of Alaska indefinitely on the date the application is submitted.

Non-external residency: Not having claimed residency or obtained a benefit as a resident in any other state or country since December 31, 2023.

Physical presence: Have been physically present in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours at some time during 2023 or 2024.

When will you receive the payment?

Over 600,000 residents in Alaska will receive the 2025 PFD payment, which amounts to approximately $1,702 per person according to current estimates, reports Marca. Direct deposit payment will begin on October 2, while those receiving paper checks will do so later in the month.

Apart from Alaska, New York is also expected to issue payments in October is New York. There, the state government has approved an "inflation rebate" that will automatically go to millions of residents. Amounts will range from $150 to $400, depending on marital status and income in 2023.

You should confirm your eligibility in your state of residence (e.g., Alaska or New York) and nsure your bank account information and mailing address are current to prevent delays. The IRS will never automatically issue new payments or ask for personal information to send them, so be vigilant.
