Some Social Security beneficiaries receive their payments on the first day of the month no matter what their date of birth is
The Social Security Administration (SSA) pays out benefits to tens of millions of Americans every month which is the main source of income for the retired and disabled. But because of the large number of beneficiaries, the payment dates are staggered, with different people receiving their monthly benefit at different times.
Benefits are usually paid at around the same time every month, but every so often payments will be brought forward because of public holidays and weekends.

Social Security August payment date
If you are a Social Security beneficiary and were born between the 1st and 20th of the month, then you probably already received your payment for August 2025. But if you were born after the 20th of the month, you are still in the group that is still waiting for your deposit. Here is everything you need to know about the payment schedule and who is still to be paid this month. The SSA makes monthly payment based on the date of birth of beneficiaries. It is a system that seeks to distribute deposits throughout the month to avoid delays or overloading the system. Here's a look at the payment dates of Social Security:
Wednesday, August 21: For those born between the 11th and 20th.
Wednesday, August 28: For those born between the 21st and 31st of the month.
This means that if your date of birth is after the 20th, your payment will arrive on August 28. It is important to note that these dates only apply to those who started receiving benefits after May 1997.
Some Social Security beneficiaries receive their payments on the first day of the month no matter what their date of birth is. This group includes those who began receiving their benefits before May 1997. In this case, the August payment was made on Thursday, August 1
They also receive payments on August 1:
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients.
People who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and qualify for special situations.
Those who receive combined payments from SSI and Social Security.

The SSA advises waiting three working days before contacting the government agency if a payment hasn't arrived as expected. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not working days.
