Skims shock: Kim Kardashian’s underwear design with built-in faux pubic hair sparks massive outrage. But it's not new

Kim Kardashian is once again in the news. This time, the American influencer has sparked outrage with the release of her most controversial Skims underwear collection yet. The reality star, 44, has launched her line of faux intimate hair thongs which cost a whopping £34 per pair.

The faux hair underwear is available in twelve different shades, including Sienna blonde, Clay Black and Cocoa Ginger. The website SKIMS described the product as 'Our most daring panty yet.

"Hand-made in a super sheer, stretch mesh, this string thong features a mix of curly and straight faux hair in 12 different shade variations". With this, Skims has entered the merkin market in launching a product aptly named “The Ultimate Bush.” The shapewear company is known for testing the limits of undergarments.


"Just Dropped: The Ultimate Bush," the caption read. "With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be."

SKIMS' faux pubic hair panties

Skims is going further, with faux pubic hair underwear. To promote the new line of micro thongs, Skims posted a video on Instagram Tuesday with a retro game show theme. The new product has left fans flabbergasted as they took to social media to share their shock at the design.

Some Instagram users couldn’t believe their eyes, with one commenting, “I just googled the date to make sure it’s not April 1st.” “I’m calling 911,” another wrote. On X, more fans expressed their disbelief, with one writing: “This’s wild. Kim really said ‘if you can’t grow it, wear it.’ Marketing genius or fever dream — either way, SKIMS just broke the internet again.”

“RiP Ed Gein you would have loved these,” another joked about the American serial killer, who was known for fashioning apparel from his victims’ corpses. They joked: "I pay for a wax pass for a reason Kim' while others made the point: "If you wanna bush, just don’t shave this is ridiculous". Others penned: 'i already got this right now as we speak i’m good'; 'Nobody wants this, we can grow out our own!';

It is not the first time Kim's products have called controversy after she introduced the Skims Ultimate Pierced Nipple Push-Up Bra back in May. The lingerie offered the option to wear one or both piercings and was priced at $74. Kardashian also made light of her faux nipple and pierced nipple bras when they were launched. In an Instagram video at the time, Kardashian said, “The Earth’s temperature is getting hotter and hotter. The sea levels are rising. The ice sheets are shrinking. And I’m not a scientist, but I do believe everyone can use their skillset to do their part.”

“That’s why I’m introducing a brand-new bra with a built-in nipple, so no matter how hot it is, you’ll always look cold,” she said.
