Kim Kardashian's SKIMS has unveiled what it calls its "most shocking panty ever” — a faux hair micro-string thong. Skims, the fashion brand founded by Kardashian in 2019, announced on Instagram its newest line of collection priced at $32. The Skims Faux Hair Micro String Thong, a thong with built-in pubic hair, is quickly selling out.

On Tuesday, October 14, the 44-year-old mogul introduced the Faux Hair Micro String Thong, which features "a mix of curly and straight faux hair in twelve different shade variations," per the SKIMS website.

The brand announced the drop on Instagram with a campaign video parodying 1970s game shows. "Just Dropped: The Ultimate Bush," the caption reads. "With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be."

“Our most daring panty yet. Hand-made in a super sheer, stretch mesh, this string thong features a mix of curly and straight faux hair in twelve different shade variations. Complete with elastic side straps. Fits true to size,” reads the product description on the website.

SKIMS touted the faux hair thong as its "most daring panty yet" — and fans have a mixed reaction. Many are straight-up confused. "Who asked for this???" one wrote. "Is everything ok?" asked another. A third joked, "I’m calling 911."

An individual posted, “She's making merkins now?” Another added, “$32 for something fake which can be obtained naturally?!” A third commented, “Was there a... demand for this? I'm trying to understand.” A fourth wrote, “We should return to the Stone Age at this point cause wt*.”

While many remarked that the $32 price tag is quite high, others pointed out that the product is nothing new and is called “merkins.” User @shaunaelisa posed a simple question in response to the announcement. “We listen and we don’t judge: this a furry thing?” I, for one, would love to hear Kim Kardashian answer this question.

Faux hair thongs quickly sells out

On Instagram, Skims models are seen posing in the thongs, though the products are censored. The mesh thongs come in combinations of three skin tones, four hair colors (blonde, brown, ginger, and black), and two textures (curly and straight). The tag line reads: “Your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be.” Interestingly, the website indicates that the products were sold out soon after launch.

In a 2023 interview with Time Magazine, Kim Kardashian had opened up about the brand and explained that it was born out of a "very vulnerable" place.

"It’s just a part of me," she told the outlet, adding, "I take it really personally. It started off of my body and my shapes, and it’s very vulnerable." She created the brand with Jens Grede's help. The brand launched during the pandemic offers a range of skin tones and various sizes.
