Did the attacker had a breakup?
According to Fox9, Robin Westman's father told investigators that his son had “recently broke up with a significant and/or romantic partner” and was staying with a friend in the aftermath. Police records also noted a 2018 welfare check at the home of Westman’s mother involving a juvenile.Police described breakup as destabilizing factor in his personal life, and said that Robin Westman appeared increasingly isolated in the weeks leading up to the shooting. Records also show that in 2018, officers conducted a welfare check at the home of Westman’s mother involving him as a juvenile - an early sign of mental health concerns.
Westman identified as a woman, and court documents show she changed her name to Robin from Robert in 2020. Just hours before the attack, Robin Westman uploaded disturbing videos before the attack showing arsenal of guns, ammunition and what appears to be a handwritten four-page manifesto addressed to Westman’s family and friends.

The letter begins, “I don’t expect forgiveness … I do apologize for the effects my actions will have on your lives.”
The end of the second page reads, “I have wanted this for so long. I am not well. I am not right. I am a sad person, haunted by these thoughts that do not go away. I know this is wrong, but I can’t seem to stop myself. I am severely depressed and have been suicidal for years. Only recently have I lost all hope and decided to perform my final action against this world.”
“I was corrupted by this world and have learned to hate what life is,” the writing continues. It was previously reported that the shooter identified himself as a transwoman; however, Westman claimed that he was “brainwashed” into being transgender, as reported by The New York Post.
