At Oscars 2025, Adrien Brody faced criticism over a 'disgusting' act as he won his second Best Actor Oscar at the 2025 ceremony on Sunday. Brody forgot to remove his gum before approaching the stage at the 2025 Academy Awards to pick up his Best Actor honor. And his girlfriend Georgina Chapman was on hand to catch it as he tossed it from the stage- much to the viewers' disgust.

The 51-year-old actor, who won for The Brutalist, was emotional when his name was called out, beating nominees Timothee Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Sebastian Stan and Ralph Fiennes.

Adrien Brody tosses gum to his girlfriend

Brody covered his face in shock when Cillian Murphy announced him as the category winner before embracing Chapman. He then started making his way to the stage as the crowd applauded before stopping and tossing his gum towards Chapman as she rushed forward to catch it, according to People.


A video has now emerged which shows the star walking up the steps to the stage. As he turns around, he takes his gum out of his mouth and threw it to girlfriend Georgina Chapman- 48. Chapman was seen running up to her partner and diligently catching the gum before he made his speech.

On the stage, an emotional Adrien Brody said, "Thank you God. Thank you for this blessed life, if I may just humbly begin by giving thanks for the tremendous outpouring of love that I’ve felt from this world and every individual that has treated me with respect and appreciation.”

“I feel so fortunate,” he continued. “You know what, acting is a very fragile profession. It looks very glamorous and in certain moments it is. But to me, it also, beyond the pinnacle of a career, it is a chance to begin again and the opportunity to hopefully be fortunate enough so that the next 20 years of my life, I can prove that I am worthy of such meaningful, important and relevant roles."

He thanked Chapman and the two children she shares with jailed Weinstein, saying: 'I know it’s been a rollercoaster. Thank you for accepting me into your life' and revealed the two youngsters call him 'Popsie.'
