Minecraft Dungeons II has officially launched around the world on September 29 bringing a world, new gear, jumping, The Sift dimension and expanded multiplayer to Mojang’s action-RPG series. Minecraft Dungeons II is being released on September 29 2026. The game is available across PC, Xbox Series X|S PlayStation 5 Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The global launch is scheduled around 08:00 UTC, which translates to 1:30 PM IST in India on September 29. Unlike the first Minecraft Dungeons the sequel is designed around a larger connected world rather than simply sending players from one mission to another.

Minecraft Dungeons II price: How much does it cost?

The Standard Edition costs $29.99 while the Deluxe Edition costs $49.99 in the US. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game along with cosmetic content and the first two DLC packs when they are released. For Xbox users there is another option. Minecraft Dungeons II is available on Xbox Game Pass from day one allowing subscribers to play the game without purchasing the Standard Edition. Xbox Play Anywhere support is also available.

The Xbox listing confirms that DLC 1 and DLC 2 are included with the Deluxe Edition and will become available as they are released. Players who pre-ordered before the launch were also offered cosmetic bonuses, including hero skins, a cape and a pet according to the games pre-launch details.

Does Minecraft Dungeons II support crossplay?

Yes. Minecraft Dungeons II supports -platform multiplayer allowing players on supported platforms to play together. The game supports parties of up to four players. Players can also use matchmaking to find other people to play with while party codes can be used to connect with friends.

Another notable addition is the ability to combine couch co-op with online multiplayer. This means players sharing a console can join friends playing remotely.

Minecraft Dungeons II gets a bigger world

One of the biggest changes is the move away from the mission-based structure of the original game. Minecraft Dungeons II introduces a world that players can explore on foot. The map includes settlements, quests, structures, fast-travel locations and other points of interest.

Some locations, including caves and ruins can also have layouts that change between visits adding exploration to the game. The sequel also introduces jumping, something that was missing from the original Minecraft Dungeons. Players can use jumping to reach areas find hidden locations and even perform special attacks.

New combat and gear system explained

Minecraft Dungeons II expands the games character-building system without introducing character classes. The number of combat equipment slots has increased from six to 12 giving players ways to create different builds.

The sequel also introduces talismans, which provide bonuses and add another layer of customization. Artefacts return as abilities while the games enchantment system has also been expanded with additional effects and rarities.

What is The Sift in Minecraft Dungeons II?

The sequel introduces a new dimension called The Sift.

It has its creatures, environment and ecosystem giving the game another setting beyond the familiar Minecraft Overworld. The story takes players between the Overworld and The Sift as they investigate the events threatening both worlds.

The story begins after the destruction of the camp from the game and introduces the Illager Council as one of the major threats. Mojang says players do not need to play the original Minecraft Dungeons before starting Minecraft Dungeons II. However those who played the game may get more out of the sequels story and returning elements.

The original Minecraft Dungeons launched in 2020. Went on to attract more than 25 million players before development ended according to TOIs report.

Minecraft Dungeons II: What has changed?

The sequel keeps the action-RPG and co-op formula of the original but makes several major changes. The biggest additions include the open world, The Sift dimension, jumping, expanded equipment slots, separate armour pieces, talismans and more flexible multiplayer.

So while Minecraft Dungeons II remains recognisable, to players of the 2020 game Mojang and Double Eleven have substantially expanded how players explore, fight and customise their heroes.
