Wednesday season 3 to be released soon?
Even though Wednesday's second season has come to an end, that doesn't mean that the story is over, as Wednesday season 3 is well on the way. Wednesday's third outing was confirmed way before the eldest Addams sibling started her sophomore year at Nevermore Academy.Wednesday season 3 was confirmed two weeks before Wednesday season 2 hit Netflix. The streamer broke the news on Twitter, writing, "She would never leave you hanging. Wednesday has been officially renewed for Season 3." Check out the post below.
However, with no filming date in sight, there's no knowing when Wednesday Addams' third outing will appear. The first season started filming in Romania on September 13, 2021, and concluded on March 30, 2022, before landing on Netflix on November 23, 2022. Filming for Wednesday Season 2 started in May 2024 in Ireland and ran through to December, before landing on Netflix in August 2025, as per Games Radar.

Last season, we saw Wednesday take on some familiar foes, such as The Hyde, and face new villains too, some who were hiding in plain sight all along. But, with writing and filming yet to start on the third season, we've been left woefully wondering what could happen to our girl in pigtails next season.
The makers had officially announced Wednesday Season 3 before the release of its second season. They chose not to disclose a streaming date for the upcoming chapter.
However, several media reports have hinted that fans may not have to endure as long a wait as they did between Seasons 1 and 2. According to reports, the cast had already begun filming parts of Season 3 months ahead of Season 2’s release, which could help shorten the gap between the two installments. If production continues smoothly without major delays, industry insiders speculate that Wednesday Season 3 could arrive on Netflix sometime between late 2026 and early 2027.

The mid-season finale ended on a jaw-dropping note, with Wednesday facing off against Tyler (aka The Hyde), who hurled her out of a window at Willow Hill and left her for dead. But in Tim Burton’s twisted world, “dead” rarely means gone for good. When part 2 returned, Wednesday was recovering in the hospital, haunted—literally—by visions of Principal Weems.
Determined to resurrect his decades-old plans, Isaac began experimenting on Outcasts, starting with Tyler. While Wednesday managed to save Tyler, she wasn’t so lucky herself—Isaac buried her alive. With Agnes helpless to dig her out, Enid embraced her full werewolf form, tearing through the earth to save her best friend before vanishing into the night.
So, where does that leave us for season 3? Season 2’s finale left several dangling threads:
Enid’s fate: Still missing after fleeing in her werewolf form, Wednesday and Uncle Fester set out into the woods to find her. But will she ever return to her human self?
Aunt Ophelia’s mystery: Why has Grandmama kept her locked away all these years—and what secrets does she hold?
Tyler’s uncertain path: After clashing with Franciose, he was taken by Professor Isadora Capri to join a collective of Hydes. Given his prominence in season 2, it’s hard to imagine his story won’t continue in season 3.
One thing’s certain: Nevermore Academy may never be the same again.

According to Tudum, Wednesday learns that her aunt is still alive only after Morticia gives her Ophelia’s journal—a gesture co-creator Al Gough calls “huge.” Fellow creator Miles Millar explains that the scene marks the peak of the season’s “emotional arc,” serving as a pivotal moment in Wednesday and Morticia’s relationship. The showrunners, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, actually told Tudum that the cliffhanger ending was intentional. They wanted to lay the groundwork for another chapter. According to them, the finale was basically a trail of breadcrumbs leading straight into Season 3.
“The journal is really a symbol of détente, acceptance, and acknowledgment that Wednesday is growing up,” Millar explained. “It’s a moment of trust, and a big step for Morticia. Wednesday recognizes that.”
Jenna Ortega, who also served as a producer on Season 2, shared her excitement about filming the heartfelt scene with Catherine Zeta-Jones. “I wanted to have genuine, tender moments with Catherine, and she’s such a wonderful co-star,” Ortega said. “I feel really fortunate to have explored this mother-daughter dynamic with someone as incredible as her.”
