Emman Atienza, TikTok sensation with 900,000 followers, dies at 19: Her political beliefs, mental health struggles in spotlight after her suicide

Emmanuelle "Emman" Atienza, an influencer with more than 900,000 followers on TikTok has died at the age of 19, US media reported. The news of Emman Atienza was confirmed by her parents, TV personality Kim Atienza and his wife Felicia, who wrote, "She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her."

"It’s with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman," the caption read with multiple photos of Emman Atienza through the years.

The message shared, "Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn’t afraid to share her own journey with mental health. Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone."


"To honor Emman’s memory, we hope you carry forward the qualities she lived by: compassion, courage, and a little extra kindness in your everyday life," the post, which was signed by the late influencer's parents and siblings Jose and Eliana, concluded.

Emman Atienza dies by suicide

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed to PEOPLE that the late content creator died by suicide. She had recently moved to Los Angeles from her native place the Philippines during the summer, as per Deadline. She was at her home in L.A. when she died.

Emman voiced her opinion about her mental health on social media, writing in an Instagram post in January that she was determined to "make changes" in her life, and found that her experiences resonated with thousands of people online.

She would also voice her political beliefs on TikTok, and would regularly push back against conservative values in her native country, admitting in a post in August that such beliefs would sometimes result in her being criticized online. Emman's more recent Instagram posts included multiple snaps showing her rock climbing, traveling, hanging out with friends and more.

Emman Atienza's mother says she owned up mental health struggles
