Man shot, killed ex-wife in deadly tragedy near Henry Ford; hospital issues emotional statement

According to reports, police are currently looking for 53-year-old Mario Green, who they say left the hospital in a 2011 white Dodge Charger with license plate DXC7067 after shooting the victim. The suspect was described as wearing all black and a gold chain.
As per Fox 2 Detroit, police said the victims were riding in a vehicle in the area of W. Grand Boulevard and Linwood when someone pulled alongside them and started shooting around 5 a.m. It appeared the victims continued driving on W. Grand, as when police arrived, they were stopped in the road outside the hospital.

Police said the victim, reported to be about 40 years old, was an employee at the hospital. According to police, the victim had filed for a personal protection order against the suspect about a month ago.
Police confirmed the investigation around 10:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2025. The street outside is currently closed, and armed ATF agents are the scene. Police are trying to figure out who the suspect is and where they could be, according to local media. "We expect to have him in custody very, very shortly," said DPD Chief Todd Bettison.

“I was sitting out on the west entrance in an area by the window, and we heard over the loudspeaker there was a code blue in the basement,” Camen told the outlet who was inside the hospital with her loved one. “Then we heard a lot of yelling, and it appeared a nurse was trying to clear the hallway by where I was sitting, and shuffled everyone in the hallway down to the waiting area that I was sitting in outside of the surgery center.”

Henry Ford Health has released the following statement regarding the incident:
"At Henry Ford Health, we are family. We are devasted by the loss of our Henry Ford Hospital teammate and our hearts go out to her loved ones—her family, friends, and the people she worked with every day. Police have confirmed this was a targeted act of domestic violence. At this time, all questions regarding what occurred should be directed to the Detroit Police Department. We are cooperating with their investigation and are conducting our own internal investigation as well.
We understand this tragedy is wide-reaching and we recognize and sympathize with the pain this has caused. We are providing resources to our team members who are dealing with the impacts of this tragic incident. The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and team members is our greatest priority.
The hospital is back open to all patients and visitors."
