Police say a gunman opened fire from a nearby building at the field office for US ICE. While one victim died at the scene and two others were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. The motive is unclear, but the incident follows a string of attacks on ICE facilities across the US in recent months
According to police sources, the suspect was a sniper on a roof armed with a rifle. The shooter, who police identified as a white man, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head as agents approached. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that there was a shooting at Dallas ICE detention facility, adding that multiple people were injured and shooter is also dead.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons confirmed the shooting during an interview on CNN. He did not give the details about who these three people were.
“It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees,” Lyons said of those who were shot. “At this point, we’re still working through that.” “Preliminary information is a possible sniper,” Lyons said.

Shooting at Dallas ICE facility
Kristi Noem confirmed the perpetrator in this morning’s shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas is dead “by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” “Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities,” Noem said on X. “While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. Dozens of police units and multiple ambulances were seen near the facility off I-35E near Empire Central. Heavy police presence was seen outside ICE offices in Dallas after reports of a possible shooting. The facility is located at 8101 N. Stemmons Fwy. in Dallas.
The total number of victims is currently unclear. It is unknown whether the suspect was on the roof of the ICE building or a building nearby.
Wednesday’s shooting marks at least the third time this year that an ICE or Customs and Border Protection facility in Texas has come under gunfire.

On July 4, assailants struck the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth in what authorities called a coordinated attack, leaving a local police officer with a neck injury. The officer survived, and more than a dozen individuals have been charged in connection with the incident.
