D4vd scandal twist? Singer spotted near 15-year-old girl's house as case takes another U-turn

Days after a decomposed body was found in the front trunk of a Tesla impounded at a Los Angeles tow yard, authorities have identified the body of a girl found in singer D4vd's vehicle. The girl, identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, was identified through forensics and the medical examiner is still working to determine a cause of death.

The teen girl who was reported missing last year in Riverside County. She disappeared in the Lake Elsinore area last year and was last seen April 5, 2024 in the western Riverside County community.

According to reports, the girl's mother said a description provided by police of the body, which included a distinctive tattoo, matched her daughter's appearance. The medical examiner revealed earlier that the girl had the letters "Shhh" tattooed on her right index finger.

D4vd might land in trouble?

D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was reportedly seen where the teen girl lived before her disappearance, TMZ reported. A photography reportedly reviewed by the outlet appeared to show rising artist interacting with a man carrying a bag in Lake Elsinore, California — less than a third of a mile from Rivas’s family home. The spot was reportedly only a six-minute walk from where she had last been living with her relatives in April 2024.

Eyewitness News has learned she ran away a few times and returned before her last runaway in May 2024 and had not been heard from since. On Wednesday night, a house close to where the Tesla was abandoned was searched.

Moreover, another image making rounds on social media appears to show D4vd with a girl resembling Rivas, though authorities have not confirmed the identification. The media outlet said that side-by-side comparisons suggested a striking similarity. The development comes after the decomposed body was found September 8 after workers at Hollywood Tow reported a strong odor coming from the Tesla registered to the singer. Officers opened the front trunk, also known as a frunk, and found the remains in a bag, police said.

The identity of the teen was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner on Wednesday, who noted that the cause of death remains "deferred" pending further examination. The teenager's remains were discovered in an advanced state of decomposition at a Hollywood tow yard, after staff reported a foul odour coming from the impounded vehicle.

What did the girl's mother say?

According to TMZ, the outlet revealed it first received a tip identifying the victim as Rivas and reached out to her mother. She said she grew suspicious when police mentioned the victim had a “Shhh...” tattoo on her right index finger — the same ink her daughter bore. The mother also noted that Rivas had a boyfriend named David, and TMZ highlighted that D4vd carries the exact same tattoo on his finger.

The case took an ugly turn when a 2023 Tesla with Texas plates was found abandoned on a Los Angeles street and later towed. Employees at the impound lot made a grisly discovery: a body stuffed inside a bag in the vehicle’s front trunk. According to ABC7, the Tesla had been sitting there for nearly five days before anyone checked inside.

Authorities have not confirmed how Rivas’s body ended up in the car or whether D4vd is considered a suspect. The 19-year-old singer, who shot to fame in 2022 with his viral hit Romantic Homicide, has cancelled at least one show — a scheduled Seattle performance last week. As of now, neither he nor his team has released any public statement while the investigation unfolds.
