Rivas, from Lake Elsinore in California, was 13 at the time of her disappearance and was last seen on 5 April 2024. Her body was found in the vehicle registered to singer D4vd, also known as David Anthony Burke, whose career has been thrown into a turmoil after the gruesome discovery.
The Tesla reportedly linked to the singer was towed to an impound lot in Hollywood after being abandoned on a street. Workers later alerted police when a “foul odour” began emanating from the car, leading to the shocking find on 8 September. Officials confirmed the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, wrapped in plastic and dressed in a tube top, black leggings, stud earrings and a yellow bracelet.

D4vd's case takes a shocking turn
Celeste Rivas' mother told TMZ she immediately suspected that the body found in impounded Tesla was of her daughter after reports surfaced about a body in the vehicle. Last week, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said the person whose remains were discovered was 5ft 2in tall (157cm), had wavy black hair and was wearing a tube top and black leggings.It added that the remains had a tattoo on the right index finger that read: "Shhh." Co-incidentally, her mother also revealed that the teen had a tattoo on her right index finger reading "Shhh...", identical to the one sported by D4vd and the overlap has now fuelled speculation.

Celeste Rivas was just 13 when she went missing. Posters from 2024 circulated widely at the time, but no trace of her was found until now. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed her identity this week, although the cause of death remains “deferred” pending further investigation.
D4vd's silence sparks speculation
D4vd, who has millions of followers on social media, is best known for his viral hits Here With me and Romantic Homicide. He released his debut album in April and was on tour when the remains were found in the Tesla. The tour's scheduled show in Seattle on Wednesday was cancelled. But despite the clarification, the fallout was immediate. Within days of the discovery, fashion giants Crocs and Hollister snapped ties with him, despite having only just unveiled him as the face of their latest campaigns. He also pulled out of a scheduled Seattle performance, though ticket sales continued even without official confirmation of the cancellation.
