A young boy was safely rescued Hersheypark on Saturday, August 30, after he was seen walking along the monorail tracks, a viral video shows. The video shows a boy walking on the monorail tracks at Hersheypark before being rescued by an adult.

The footage shows a panicked crowd trying to tell the child walking on top of the monorail to move to a nearby roof, where a man is waiting to grab him. The man then hops up on the monorail from the roof of the nearby building, picks up the boy and carries him down safely. The boy was able to get to the man and be taken away without injuries.



Child rescued at HersheyPark

A boy walking along the monorail track at Hersheypark Saturday evening was rescued by a man as others in the park prepared to catch the child, according to reports and a video shared online. The video showed groups of people gathering underneath the monorail in case the boy jumped or fell.

The boy appeared to be walking along the monorail suspended in the air with nothing to block his fall. The onlookers yelled for him to make his way to a man, located on a nearby rooftop, who was trying to get him to come over. Eventually, the man hopped onto the monorail track and grabbed the boy to pull him to safety.

According to a Hersheypark spokesperson who spoke with WGAL, the boy was reported missing at around 5:05 p.m. Saturday after being separated from his mother.

In a statement, Hersheypark officials said the monorail was not operating at the time. They said a young child was reported missing after they became separated from their parents around 5 p.m.

The child, they said, made his way into a closed Monorail station, staying there for 20 minutes before walking the tracks.

During the search, the boy snuck behind chains blocking off the monorail, which was not in operation, and was in the secure area for about 20 minutes before getting onto the elevated tracks, according to WGAL.

"We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark," a park spokesperson said, according to WGAL.

The boy was reunited with his family by 5:28 p.m., park officials said, according to WGAL.
