Bruce Willis sold his $27 million Turks and Caicos estate with 12 bedrooms and 14 baths; deal became the island’s second-highest residential sale

In 2019, the 'Die Hard' actor Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Heming-Willis have sold their sprawling Turks and Caicos compound for $27 million. The couple listed the property, which is on the island of Parrot Cay, for $33 million in March. The roughly 13,500-square-foot Asian-inspired compound sits on 7.37 waterfront acres, according to agent Nina Siegenthaler of Turks and Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty.

“Bruce started vacationing with his family in Parrot Cay and staying at the COMO Parrot Cay Hotel in the 90’s. He fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of the island, staked a beautiful plot of land(now the most desirable part of the island) and built a wonderful compound for both his family and friends," Emma Heming Willis said.

Inside Bruce Willis' former Turks and Caicos beachfront mansion

Bruce Willis bought the 7.3-acre site in 2000 and nothing was built on it. The actor spent four years managing the construction of three separate hardwood homes, reports Architectural Digest. He started building his tropical paradise that covered all the bases for multiple guests, including a children’s bunk room and playground. The houses were built along 1,100 feet of white sand beach and the main home is the center of the compound.

Three homes built over next four years

Three homes were built over the next four years, which totalled 35,000 sq ft with a total of 12 bedrooms and 14 baths. The six-bedroom main house underwent a complete restyling and updating in 2020. The main house has six bedrooms, high ceilings, exposed wood beams and large glass doors that open toward the ocean.

The property also includes two separate guest villas next to the main house, with each villa featuring two bedrooms. Designed with privacy in mind, the villas give family and friends their own space while staying close to the main residence. Altogether, the three homes have 12 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.

The interiors span around 13,500 square feet. Covered verandas and outdoor decks add significantly more space, taking the property's total usable living and deck area to more than 35,000 square feet.

Yoga pavilion, life-sized pirate ship and more

All the three houses had its own swimming pools and a fourth pool was added specifically for children within a fenced play area. Over the four-year construction project, several other facilities were also built, including a beachfront yoga pavilion, a commercial-grade kitchen annex for full-service catering and private staff quarters. The property also features a paved children's playground complete with a life-sized pirate ship.

"We fell in love with Turks and Caicos the moment we arrived," Willis and his wife, Emma Heming Willis, said in an official statement released through Sotheby's International Realty when the property was listed. "The island gave us complete privacy and allowed us to create a space where our family could gather and grow together."

Property sold for $27 million

The Los Angeles Times reported that the property was listed at $33 million in March 2019. Mark Ein, a billionaire, later purchased it for a negotiated amount of $27 million, which was $6 million less than the asking price.

The sale achieved the position of second highest in residential property transactions in Turks and Caicos at that time even with the discount. A nearby Grace Bay estate was the holder of the record and had sold for 32.5 million dollars that same year.
