Breast milk flavoured ice cream now available for sale in US: Where can you get free scoop?

There's a new ice cream flavour mimicking breast milk now available in the United States and it tastes like the answer to the question many have secretly wondered about. Yes, you read that right- Breast milk.

Frida, a parent product company, and OddFellows, have collaborated to release a limited number of breast milk-flavored ice cream pints nationwide, reports PEOPLE. OddFellows is a small ice cream company based in New York.

Breast milk ice cream available in US

Parenting brand Frida has teamed up with OddFellows Ice Cream to create a breast milk–inspired flavor to create a breast milk–inspired flavor to celebrate the launch of its new 2-in-1 Manual Breast Pump. The breast milk ice cream is available for a limited time from Tuesday, August 5 to 10, at OddFellows' Dumbo location in New York City.

The Breast Milk Ice Cream is “a pitch-perfect representation of the sweet, creamy, nutrient-packed goodness we’ve all wanted to try but have been afraid to ask," said a press release. Frida and OddFellows have been promoting the ice cream flavor on social media for the past few days and the internet is going crazy with multiple users confused about the ice cream's ingredients.

"Taste it for yourself," reads the caption on Frida's post showing a tank truck with "Breast Milk Ice Cream" emblazoned on the side.

Does it really contain breast milk?

The Frida and OddFellows' Breast Milk Ice Cream is not made of real, human breast milk. The flavor of the ice cream is supposed to mimic it. Here's the full ingredient list, per a Frida's statement: milk, heavy cream, skim milk powder, sugar, dextrose, egg yolks, invert sugar, guar gum, salted caramel flavoring, honey syrup, liposomal bovine colostrum, yellow food color, 0.1% propylparaben (preservative), and FD&C Red 40.

What does breast milk ice cream taste like?

The breast milk ice cream is "sweet, a little salty, smooth, with hints of honey and sprinkles of colostrum, and features a distinct colostrum yellow tinge," according to a Frida's statement.

Where can you buy breast milk ice cream and what's the cost?

The breast milk ice cream is available, while supplies last, on the Frida website.

The flavor will also be available at a pop-up event at OddFellows' location in Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York, from August 5-10. Free scoops of the flavor will be offered between noon and 1 p.m. local time on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, August 10.

One pint of Frida and OddFellows' Breast Milk Ice Cream is $12.99, according to a Frida's statement. Customers must purchase two pints when making an order online. Pints will also be available for nationwide shipping through Frida.com while supplies last.

The campaign arrives just in time for National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and taps into the growing wave of curiosity around breast milk. From trending colostrum powders in the wellness space to celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian and Ashley Graham admitting they’ve sampled their own supply, the topic has moved from an undiscussed taboo to overwhelming intrigue of its potential casual uses.
