The New York-based Grand Slam will feature the highest total player compensation in tennis history: a whopping $90 million purse, up 20% from the $75 million awarded in 2024. According to The Athletic, this is significantly more than the sport’s three other Grand Slams: Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the French Open.

The 2025 US Open has overtaken Wimbledon’s prize pool by more than $12 million. Singles champions at Flushing Meadows are set to cash in big, earning more than twice the payout compared to winners of the Australian Open.
Prize money is surging across the board this year, with every round seeing double-digit percentage increases. Singles champions will now take home $2.5 million, while semifinalists collect $1.26 million, quarterfinalists secure $660,000, and those advancing to the Round of 16 will earn $400,000. The qualifying tournaments have also received a boost, with payouts climbing 10% from 2024 to reach a total of $8 million.
Doubles competitors are reaping rewards as well. Purses for men’s and women’s doubles have skyrocketed 23% to $4.78 million, and for the first time ever, winners in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles will each pocket a $1 million prize.

When does the tournament start?
Main-draw play at the US Open kicks off on Sunday, Aug. 24. The tournament ends on Sunday, Sept. 7. The singles qualifying began on Monday, Aug. 18 and ended on Thursday, Aug. 21. The US Open is on Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4).When are the finals?
