Barron Trump was the only Trump child absent from US President's joint address to Congress on Tuesday night. While the entire family of Donald Trump gathered in Washington DC gathered for the big event, one notable member was missing- his youngest son, Barron Trump.

However, the 18-year-old had a perfectly good excuse-school. His siblings joined his mother Melania in watching the President's remarks.

Why did Barron Trump miss Trump's address?

Barron is currently a freshman at New York University, where he is studying business. Barron, who lives in the Trump Tower, has lectures this week at New York University, where he studies business, according to The Mirror. Meanwhile, his older siblings were seated alongside his mother, Melania Trump, as they watched the former president’s highly anticipated remarks.

Barron recommended podcasts for his dad to speak to in order to reach young male voters last year. Melania, known for her protective nature when it comes to her son, has spoken candidly about the challenges he faces.

His absence is followed by comments from his mother, Melania Trump, who said back in December, "I don't think it's possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college - it's very different than any other kid."

Barron's involvement in politics

Even though Barron Trump avoids limelight and is largely out of the public eye, Melania Trump has proudly shared glimpses of his growing involvement in political discussions. She revealed that her son played an active role in advising Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, helping to bridge the gap between his father and younger voters. Trump had also explained that Barron was the one who “recommended” to him to sit down for an interview with Joe Rogan and “some of the other people”.

"He’s a grown young man. I’m very proud of him—about his knowledge, even about politics, and giving advice to his father," Melania told Fox News in January. "He brought in so many young people. He knows his generation."

Melania said he will soon come visit them in Washington DC. Speaking to Fox News recently, Melania said: "He will come and visit, yes. I feel that children we have them feel they are like 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them. And then we give them the wings to fly. And I always respect Barron's yes and no and what he likes to do, where he would like to be."

Barron Trump garnered a lot of attention at his father's high-profile inauguration event in Washington DC on January 20. Barron was 10 when his father was elected the first time. He spent his teenage years growing up at the White House.
