'Avatar: Fire & Ash' trailer: James Cameron ignites Pandora like never before, delivers stunning new clans. Check release date

The action-packed first trailer for James Cameron's next Avatar fantasy epic ‘Avatar: Fire & Ash’ has been released online and fans can't keep calm. Disney has revealed the trailer for Avatar: Fire & Ash following the footage leaking after the teaser was put exclusively in theaters last week in front of Fantastic Four: First Steps.

From volcanic landscapes to aerial dogfights with bioluminescent sky beasts, 'Avatar: Fire & Ash' trailer gives fans a jaw-dropping preview of what is likely to come ahead. The trailer opens with a Na'vi flying with the Ikran amongst the floating mountains, it then shifts to a scene in the water, reminiscent of the journey made from the first two films.

You can catch a glimpse of the Wind Traders, a Na'vi tribe known for their mastery of air travel. The story then hints at a rift that separates Jake Sully from his family, prompting him to journey across Pandora’s treacherous volcanic landscape to save them.



Along the way, we are introduced to the Ash People, led by the formidable Varang, who shows clear hostility toward Jake, Neytiri, and their kin. Tensions within the Na’vi begin to surface, with a looming conflict brewing—Varang on one side, and Jake’s family on the other. At the end of the trailer, she goes: “Your goddess has no dominion here.”

Avatar: Fire & Ash trailer released

James Cameron’s Avatar: The Fire and the Ash, the third movie in the globally acclaimed franchise and promises a new chapter. The trailer shows a fiery new villan, epic battles and stunning visuals that left the fans awe-struck. It is set to hit theatres on December 19, 2025, just in time for Christmas.

The film marks the return of Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña, along with Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco and Dileep Rao. Oona Chaplin will be seen as the new villain, Varang. Meanwhile, David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh are also new additions to the cast.

The trailer has received mixed reactions online.

"James Cameron has lost his edge. This looks kind of mid like the second sequel. Loved the first Avatar though," opined a netizen. A comment read, "I don't think the original should've gotten any sequels at all. It all just blends together eventually with one slightly different color of blue person added to show differentiating factions. If you showed this to me I'd assume it was a cut of the already existing films."

Meanwhile, an exciting fan wrote, "I'm calling it now, this is gonna be movie of the year." Another gushed, "James Cameron knows how to bring a fictional world to life & make it feel real, he truly never misses."

At the 2024 D23 Expo, Cameron promised fans, “It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.”

Avatar (2009) is the highest grossing film of all time, earning almost 3 billion dollars at the global box office. Avatar: Way of the Water (2022) quickly became the third-highest-grossing film of all time, behind its predecessor and Avengers: Endgame.
