Investigators interviewed a member of Robinson's family, who said he had become "more political" in recent years. The family member said Robinson recently told them that Kirk was coming to Utah Valley University and the pair discussed how they didn’t like Kirk and the viewpoints he held.
Now, speculations are rife online and social media is abuzz with claims that Robinson is a Groyper. A Groyper is a member of a group of alt-right, white nationalist and Christian nationalist activists, who are led by Holocaust-denier Nick Fuentes. However, it is important to note that these claims are from unverified social media accounts and there is no official statement from authorities about Robinson's political leanings or his motives.

Nick Fuentes on Charlie Kirk shooter
Social media users are increasingly connecting 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the suspect, to Nick Fuentes’ ‘Groyper’ movement. The influencer and activist is once again under the spotlight due to his public clashes with Kirk, whom he has criticized as a “fake conservative” and a “gatekeeper.”Nick Fuentes, a far-right American and white supremacist, has now broken silence and has responded to the allegations, denying any direct connection while defending his followers. Journalist and former MSNBC anchor David Shuster on Friday claimed that Robinson reportedly admired Fuentes.

Online chatter across Reddit threads and X posts claimed that Robinson was a Groyper — a member of Fuentes’ alt-right faction known for targeting Turning Point USA (TPUSA) events during the 2019 ‘Groyper Wars,’ confronting Charlie Kirk over issues like immigration, LGBTQ rights, and what they viewed as establishment conservatism.
Responding to these allegations, Nick Fuentes said, “The Left is now shamelessly trying to blame the Right for the murder of Charlie Kirk which they have been openly celebrating & justifying for days. They have no charity, love, or humanity for any of us or our families. We must take power for our own survival. We win or we die." (sic)

Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on Wednesday while addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University. Witnesses said the gunman fired a single shot from a rooftop before fleeing into nearby woods. Investigators later recovered a bolt-action rifle near the scene. The attack, captured on video and widely shared online, showed Kirk collapsing as panicked spectators fled. Federal and state officials said more than 7,000 tips were received before Robinson was taken into custody.Tyler Robinson now faces charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice, according to a probable cause affidavit. The prosecutors will pursue the death penalty if he is convicted. The motive for the assassination remains unclear.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said Robinson as a Utah resident had no prior criminal history. Family members told authorities Robinson had ‘become more political in recent years’, and messages on Discord revealed references to a rifle and bullets engraved with phrases like "Hey Fascist, catch," which some interpret as anti-Kirk sentiment.
