Unlike federal stimulus payments, the $1,702 Stimulus Checks in 2025 are taxable at the federal level

A $1,702 stimulus check is set to reach the pockets of some Americans in the coming days in a big financial relief for residents of Alaska. The stimulus checks are disbursed through the state’s annual Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program and hold significance when rising costs of living energy prices are squeezing household budgets.

The PFD distribution for Alaska residents is on track and in August, citizens who qualify will receive a $1,702 stimulus payment. This is a unique initiative born in the early 1980s under which a portion of the state's oil profits is allocated to provide economic relief and support the local economy.

$1,702 stimulus payments: How many US citizens are eligible?

According to Marca, it is estimated that around 600,000 residents are eligible for this significant financial boost. Applicants must have met strict residency criteria, such as having lived in Alaska continuously during 2023 and not having any felony convictions.

The $1,702 stimulus checks in 2025 represent the total PDF for the year, combining two components: a base dividend of $1,403.83 and
an energy relief payment of $298.17. Together, they form a single, tax-reportable payment of $1,702 per eligible resident.

The application period dates are from June 1 to August 31, 2025 and payment dates are June 20, July 17 and August 15.
