Donald Trump denied seeking negotiations with Iran, as reported by ABC News. He stated the United States now holds nearly complete control over the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump said he was not seeking to force Iran into negotiations, rejecting a report by ABC News that Washington was trying to bring Tehran to the bargaining table, while claiming that the United States now has “almost total control” of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he was satisfied with the current US position and that he had little interest in any agreement with Iran.

“I’m not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported. I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement. I like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing. They are just playing out the inevitable. When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight? President DJT,” he said in a post.

Trump's comments come as the Strait of Hormuz remains at the centre of the conflict between Washington and Tehran. The waterway is a critical route for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, and disruptions to traffic through the strait have heightened concerns over energy supplies and prices.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the United States has control over the strategic waterway, while Iranian officials have rejected those assertions and maintained that Tehran controls access to the strait.
