'We will liberate LA...': Trump calls Los Angeles protests 'assault on peace'
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump asserted that his deployment of Marines and other military personnel to Los Angeles was solely responsible for preventing the city from being consumed by flames due to protests against immigration policies.

In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed that without his intervention of "SEND[ING] IN THE TROOPS" over the past three nights, Los Angeles, which he described as "once beautiful and great," would currently be "burning to the ground." He equated the sporadic street unrest to the destructive power of recent wildfires that devastated Los Angeles neighborhoods.

This deployment of thousands of troops by the Republican has drawn strong criticism from Democrats, with California Governor Gavin Newsom labeling Trump's actions as "dictatorial."
