Exciting news for Star Wars fans! The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is coming to OTTs. After its theatrical release in May the film has made $344.8 million globally.

The film, directed by Jon Favreau, was released in theatres on May 22, 2026. It was subsequently made available for digital purchase and rental on July 21.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be available to stream on Disney+ from September 2, 2026.The Disney+ release comes just over three months after the film's theatrical debut. The movie was released digitally on July 21 and is also available through platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home.
Physical copies of the movie are scheduled to be released on August 25 in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
The Mandalorian and Grogu box office
The film earned $344.8 million worldwide against a reported production budget of about $165 million.At the US box office, the movie opened with $98.1 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend. However, its performance declined sharply in subsequent weeks.
The movie suffered a reported 70% drop in its second weekend, falling to third place. By its third weekend, it had dropped out of the top five after earning about $10 million.
With a worldwide gross of $344.8 million, The Mandalorian and Grogu became the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film in the franchise's history.
Disney CEO says movie was not an outright bust
Despite the film's theatrical performance, Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro said The Mandalorian and Grogu was not an outright bust for the company.During Disney's latest earnings call, D’Amaro acknowledged that both The Mandalorian and Grogu and the live-action Moana remake underperformed at the box office.
However, he pointed to the wider commercial impact of the franchises, including merchandise sales and theme-park traffic. The comments underline Disney's strategy of evaluating major franchises through multiple revenue streams rather than box-office earnings alone.
Who stars in The Mandalorian and Grogu?
Jon Favreau directed the film and also created The Mandalorian Disney+ series.Pedro Pascal stars as bounty hunter Din Djarin, while Jeremy Allen White plays Rotta the Hutt and Sigourney Weaver portrays New Republic Colonel Ward.
The story follows Din Djarin and Grogu, the character popularly known among fans as Baby Yoda. The pair first appeared together in The Mandalorian, which debuted on Disney+ in 2019 and ran for three seasons until 2023.
