Tesla has raised the price of two Cybertruck models in the US by $5,000, putting the electric pickup back in the spotlight as questions continue over demand and sales.

The latest price change means the Tesla Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD now starts at $74,990, compared with $69,990 previously. The Premium AWD version has also increased from $79,990 to $84,990. The Cyberbeast remains priced at $99,990.

While the vehicle generated enormous attention when it was unveiled, sales have reportedly fallen well short of the production capacity Tesla originally planned for the model.

Electrek reported that Cybertruck production at Tesla's Gigafactory Texas has been running at only a fraction of its planned capacity, with annual sales remaining below the levels that were initially expected.

That makes the new pricing strategy particularly interesting.

Instead of lowering the price to attract more customers, Tesla has moved the entry point higher.

The Cybertruck is now a more expensive proposition

At $74,990, the Dual Motor Cybertruck is significantly more expensive than the temporary $59,990 price Tesla offered earlier this year.

For consumers, the difference is substantial. Someone who was considering the Cybertruck at its lower promotional price is now looking at a vehicle that costs $15,000 more.

The Premium AWD model has also crossed the $80,000 mark, while the Cyberbeast continues to sit just below $100,000.
