Taylor Swift's new 'Showgirl' songs bring Travis Kelce, toxic love into the spotlight

Taylor Swift has given Swifties four more reasons to revisit The Life of a Showgirl, releasing an expanded edition of her hit 2025 album with new songs including “Patient Zero” and “Cleveland!”, a track that references her husband Travis Kelce's hometown.

The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore debuted at midnight US Eastern Daylight Time (0400 GMT) on Friday, adding four songs to the original 12-track album.

Among the new releases is “Patient Zero”, a song about a toxic relationship in which Swift sings, “If you're sick of him, I've got you. I was patient zero.” The song's music video is set to debut Sunday during MTV's Video Music Awards.

Actors Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson appear in the “Patient Zero” video. Swift is also set to receive the inaugural artist director trophy at the awards ceremony.

Another new track, “Cleveland!”, is a nod to the hometown of Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs player Swift married in July after a three-year romance. In the song, Swift sings, “My baby likes what he likes,” followed by, “He already took me to Cleveland.”

Swift said she wrote the four new songs after travelling to Sweden to celebrate the success of The Life of a Showgirl with producers Max Martin and Shellback.

The original album, released in October 2025, broke several records. It became the first album in history to place all 12 of its songs simultaneously in the Billboard top 12.

Its first week also set a sales record for the modern music era based on album sales and streams.
