Summit County residents can report these scam texts to the Federal Trade Commission by visiting reportfraud.ftc.gov.
A phishing scam is making waves through Summit County, with fraudsters posing as representatives from the Ohio BMV. According to a press release from the agency, these scammers are pressuring individuals to pay fake outstanding traffic tickets under the threat of having their licenses suspended. The agency warned that the scammers are trying to deceive motorists into revealing personal or financial information.

New scam in Ohio
The text reveals that an individual has an outstanding ticket and threatens various legal actions and some of them include suspension of your driver’s license, if you don’t pay within a few days.
