New teaser of 'The Last of Us' Season 2 released by Sony: Check release date and expected cast

Sony has released a new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us. The second season of the hit TV adaptation of the popular video game is set to premiere in April 2025, following the debut of Season 1 two years ago in January 2023.

According to Variety, Sony revealed the update during a presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday. While the exact premiere date hasn’t been announced, the teaser trailer showcases fresh footage and confirms the April 2025 release window.

The Last of Us Season 2 Cast

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey reprise their roles as Joel and Ellie in Season 2. There will be several new characters in the new season, claimed reports. Among the new cast include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina. Jeffrey Wright is expected to join the cast too, portraying a live-action version of Isaac Dixon, a character he voiced in the game. Additionally, Catherine O’Hara is expected in a mystery role.



"I’m incredibly happy with who has been cast," Ramsey told GamesRadar+. "It’s gonna be a lot of fun... [Dever is] excellent, Isabel and Young as well, I’m really excited to get going with all of them."

Developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a smuggler escorts an immune teenager across a devastated landscape. Season 1 was a massive success, earning a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and becoming HBO’s second-largest debut since 2010, behind House of the Dragon.

The show’s first season received critical acclaim and recognition at various awards shows, further cementing its status as a pop-culture phenomenon.

The first season of The Last of Us is currently streaming on Max, while Season 2 will debut on HBO and Max in April 2025.
