Mbappe responsible for PSG's downfall! Neymar reveals how Kylian Mbappe's jealousy affected PSG's success with Messi
Neymar revealed that when Lionel Messi joined PSG in 2021, Kylian Mbappe became jealous of Neymar's bond with Messi. This resulted in ego clashes and poor teamwork among the trio, leading to their underperformance at PSG. Neymar, now with Al-Hilal...

Neymar, who transferred to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal in 2023, explained his relationship with Mbappe evolved after Messi joined PSG in 2021. Initially, Neymar felt they connected well. “I had my issues with him, we had a little fight, but he was a boy who at the beginning, when he arrived, was fundamental," Neymar stated. "I always told him, I joked with him, that he was going to be one of the best, I always helped him, I talked to him. He came to my house, we went out to dinner together.”
However, Neymar believes Mbappe's attitude shifted with Messi's arrival. Neymar and Messi had previously played together at Barcelona. "We spent some good years together, but then, when Messi arrived, I think he got a little jealous," Neymar commented. "He didn't want to share me with anyone and then the fights began, the change of behavior."
Neymar attributes PSG's struggles to a lack of teamwork among the star players. “You have to realize that you don't play alone. You have to have the others on your side: 'I'm the best, OK', but who's going to give you the ball? You have to have good people who give you the ball," Neymar explained. He added, “It was everyone's ego…so it couldn't work. Nowadays, if nobody runs, if nobody helps each other, it's impossible to win.”
Neymar, who has battled injuries and played limited games in Saudi Arabia, declined to comment on his future plans. He said he is currently content but acknowledged “in six months, everything can change.”
