A video has gone viral on social media which shows French President Emmanuel Macron's wife getting down from a plane on her own after he offered her a help. This comes just weeks after she reportedly shoved him in the face getting off another flight.

The video shows Macron, 47, offered a hand to his wife Brigitte, 72, as they arrived in Britain to greet the Prince and Princess of Wales ahead of their three-day state visit. When President Macron held out his hand to Brigitte as she walked down the stairs, she appeared to walk on her own. Instead, she gripped the handrail, leaving Macron to drop his hand.

After Macron gave Kate’s hand an air kiss, the French president and first lady got into a waiting car, with Brigitte looking at her phone and saying nothing. Today's incident comes after a shocking clip emerged of the First Lady appearing to push her husband's face away as their plane touched down in Vietnam in May.

Macron and Brigitte got married in 2007 and the Macrons have denied any abuse in their relationship, with a close associate of the president describing the moment as a harmless 'squabble' between a married couple. Macron's Southeast Asia tour got off to an inauspicious start when he was appeared to be slapped or pushed in the face by his wife, Brigitte.

As he was beginning to depart from a plane in Vietnam, a short clip shows the aircraft door opening with Macron appearing in the doorway. Just a few seconds later, Macron's face can be seen being pushed by his wife in what appeared to be a sudden shove.

Initially stunned, Macron regained his composure and waved to the press waiting outside the aircraft. Video of the incident quickly went viral on social media with a number of different videos racking up over one million views.

“It was a moment when the president and his wife were unwinding one last time before the trip began, playfully teasing each other,” a source told CNN Monday.

Speaking to reporters in Hanoi on Monday, Macron broke his silence on the incident and tried to downplay the video.

"There’s a video showing me joking and teasing my wife and somehow that becomes a sort of geo-planetary catastrophe, with people even coming up with theories to explain it,” the president said," via CNN.
