Argentine authorities have clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of former One Direction singer Liam Payne. Following an extensive investigation, local prosecutors ruled out suicide, confirming that his fatal fall from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month was not due to self-harm or outside interference, as reported by Deadline.

Payne, who gained global fame as part of the British boy band, passed away on October 16 at the age of 31. Official autopsy results, obtained by Deadline, indicated that Payne's death was due to multiple injuries consistent with the fall. However, a toxicology report added further details, revealing multiple substances in his system at the time of his passing. Prior to the incident, hotel staff had alerted authorities about an "aggressive" guest they believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The investigation into Payne's death has led to legal action against three individuals. According to Deadline, charges of "abandonment of a person followed by death" and "supply and facilitating the use of narcotics" have been filed. The suspects, who have ties to Payne—one with a close working relationship, another as a hotel employee, and the third allegedly supplying substances—currently face restrictions on leaving Argentina, though none have been arrested as the investigation continues.

Liam Payne rose to prominence as a member of One Direction after the band's formation on The X Factor in 2010, alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. The group quickly achieved historic success, becoming one of the best-selling music acts of all time. Following the band's hiatus in 2016, Payne embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album LP1 in 2019.
