Jill Biden, Joe awkwardly ignore Kamala at Kennedy Center. 'She's so happy Harris lost', internet reacts

Outgoing US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden reportedly ignored a beaming Kamala Harris as they entered the Kennedy Center Honors to a standing ovation, awkward video shows. Kamala was applauding enthusiastically for the couple but she was reportedly ignored by the Bidens.

Kamala Harris was reportedly not greeted or acknowledged by the Bidens when they entered the 47th Kennedy Center Honors. The Bidens took a stood right next to the vice president and her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Clips of the awkward snub quickly began circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter, with social media users remarking how the couple even avoided eye contact with Harris and Emhoff, reports The New York Post.

Joe, Jill Biden's awkward snub at Kamala Harris

“Jill and Joe Biden are refusing to even look at Kamala Harris tonight,” the popular X account End Wokeness wrote alongside a clip, which had been viewed more than 780,000 times as of early Monday.

The uneasy exchange took place Sunday night at the Kennedy Center Honors, an annual event recognizing artists who have made an impact in the US.

This year’s event was hosted by Queen Latifah at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Honorees included members of the Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Francis Ford Coppola, among others.

Several other social media commentators also joked about the uncomfortable interaction, with many quipping that the Bidens must have “voted for President Trump,” who won the 2024 presidential election in a landslide victory over the Democrats last month.

Other critics said it seemed the usually upbeat Democrats were divided and in despair, remarking, “What happened to the joy?”

“Can you blame them[?] Best case scenario she convinced him she would win, worst case the[y] ousted him so she could run. Either way, they probably feel robbed,” a social media commentator wrote.

Another simply added: “I love how awkward it is for them.”

When Jill Biden ignored Kamala Harris

Last month, Kamala Harris made her first public appearance after her concession speech yesterday at a Veterans Day event at the Arlington National Cemetery.

Videos of Kamala Harris and Jill Biden went viral with two claims -- Kamala Harris ignored Jill Biden; Jill completely ignored Kamala Harris. Who ignored who remains open to interpretation as they were seen sitting beside each other and not even exchanging a glance in the viral videos.

Jill Biden was wearing sunglasses and looked straight and Kamala Harris too was seen looking in the other direction where their glances could not meet. Jill Biden, however, spoke with Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff as seen later.

Jill Biden too campaigned for Kamala Harris but the Bidens did not let go of the grudge. "It’s safe to say that Jill Biden hates Kamala Harris’s guts," a user wrote sharing a video where Kamala Harris was seen sitting beside Jill Biden without greeting her.

"Kamala Harris was given the cold shoulder by Jill Biden," another wrote sharing different video of Harris and Jill Biden looking in different directions.

"Jill Biden hates Kamala Harris with a passion," one wrote.

It is not a secret that both Joe Biden and Jill held a grudge when the outgoing president was made to drop out of the presidential election. It was a decision dominated by the party veterans and Biden had no other option than to abide by endorsing Kamala Harris.
