Jennifer Lopez-Ben Affleck divorce settlement: Who gets what as the fairy tale ends in a nightmare

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce settlement on Monday, according to People magazine. The divorce will be official on February 20, 2025. The couple wed in July 2022 after rekindling their romance, which initially began in 2004.

Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. A source told People, “The fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end.” Despite being seen at Affleck's home recently, another source confirmed to People they are not reconciling. Lopez is reportedly doing well and “just wants to close the door on this crazy chapter.”

The settlement details, per TMZ, stipulate that both parties will retain assets acquired during the marriage. Affleck keeps his stake in Artists Equity, his production company with Matt Damon. Their shared $60 million Beverly Hills mansion remains on the market, with the division of proceeds undisclosed. Lopez will retain her $5 million engagement ring.


Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck shares three children—Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12—with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. In a recent interview with Variety, Lopez reflected on her and her “Unstoppable” character’s shared experiences: “We both had challenging relationships, which left us holding our families together.”

After the divorce, Lopez has chosen to focus on herself. She stated that she was not actively seeking a new relationship, saying, "There's no new bar because I'm not looking for anybody...What if I'm just free?" Lopez also reflected on the time she took off from public events, sharing that canceling her tour and spending time away from the spotlight helped her reconnect with herself and her family.
