There’s never a dull day in the world of American political satire, and the latest meme making rounds on social media is proof of that. The internet recently has found its newest obsession, an AI-generated video of Vice President JD Vance meticulously applying Cheeto dust to President Donald Trump’s face, as if he were his personal makeup artist. Yes, you read that right.

The video, which has been widely shared, seems to draw inspiration from a satirical illustration by The New Yorker's Barry Blitt. The artwork, part of the Kvetchbook series, hilariously imagines Trump commenting on Vance’s supposed makeup habits, with the phrase, “Maybe tone it down with the Maybelline, Captain Eyeliner.” To which Vance responds, “Girl, look how orange you look.” See here

If you've been online for more than five minutes, you’d know that jokes about Trump's tan are nothing new. His ever-changing skin tone, ranging from “mildly sun-kissed” to “radioactive tangerine”, has been a long-time favourite among meme makers. But this latest version takes it a step further by throwing JD Vance into the mix, who has been at the centre of his own internet ridicule due to speculation about his eyeliner use.

Of course, social media had a field day. Some were amused, some were horrified, and some just couldn't look away.

One user wrote, “Look, I’m a die-hard Trump and Vance fan, but this is funny as hell. Somehow, it makes them more lovable. Something for everyone, I guess.”

Another wasn’t as pleased, “What a terrible day not to be blind in both eyes.”

A third admitted defeat, saying, “I’m not a fan of AI, but I cannot stop laughing at this.”

Meanwhile, some found the video downright disturbing. “What in the hell was that? I won’t sleep tonight. That was disturbing.”

And then there were those who simply couldn't look away. “Creepy but still can’t turn away. Even my mind’s eye is double blinking.”
