‘Jay Kelly’ trailer: Netflix unveils first look at Noah Baumbach’s film starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler

Netflix has released the first trailer for Jay Kelly, the latest film from acclaimed director Noah Baumbach. George Clooney stars as the titular movie icon, with Adam Sandler playing Ron, his fiercely loyal manager. The film follows the pair on a whirlwind journey across Europe—one that grows unexpectedly introspective as they confront the choices and consequences of their intertwined lives.

A standout moment in the trailer sees a young woman confront Jay with a pointed question: “What do you say to people who say you only play yourself?”
Jay replies, unfazed: “You know how difficult it is to be yourself? You try it.”


Set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Jay Kelly boasts a powerhouse ensemble including Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Greta Gerwig, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Lenny Henry, Mortimer, Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Isla Fisher, Louis Partridge, and Charlie Rowe. Casting is by Douglas Aibel and Nina Gold.

The film is produced by Amy Pascal, David Heyman, and Baumbach, with a score composed by Nicholas Britell. The trailer is underscored by the original track “Jay Kelly Theme.”

Behind the camera, the creative team includes cinematographer Linus Sandgren, editors Valerio Bonelli and Rachel Durance, sound designer Christopher Scarabosio, production designer Mark Tildesley, and costume designer Jacqueline Durran.

Jay Kelly marks Baumbach’s second feature under his multi-year deal with Netflix, following his 2022 adaptation of Don DeLillo’s White Noise, which starred Greta Gerwig, Adam Driver, and Don Cheadle. That film also premiered at Venice before streaming globally.
