Inside Trump's Iran attack moment: Photos from the situation room go viral

One photo shows President Donald Trump staring straight ahead, stone-faced, as he monitors the mission that struck three Iranian nuclear enrichment sites.

In another, Trump stands while his chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, appears to be speaking. Throughout the photo series, Trump is seen wearing a bright red hat with his well-known campaign slogan: "Make America Great Again."



The images, released by the White House on its official X account on Saturday, offer a rare look inside the Situation Room—once again igniting the kind of public curiosity that typically follows visuals from this highly restricted space.


Saturday’s photos show Trump alongside top officials, including Vice President JD Vance; Secretary of State Marco Rubio—who also serves as the national security adviser; White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles; and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. They are seated around a large wooden table in the Situation Room’s main conference area, known as the “JFK Room,” named after the president who created the facility.

In each image, Trump is in sharp focus, while other figures in the frame—like Hegseth or Vance—often appear slightly blurred. The closest officials to Trump when he’s seated are Vance and Rubio, suggesting the weight of their roles as he deliberated for days over whether to authorize a strike on Iran.


Trump isn’t always shown seated. At times, he’s seen moving around the room, standing behind top aide Wiles while Caine speaks. Some photos show officials calmly watching something, while others capture more dynamic moments—Caine gesturing energetically, or Hegseth consulting with another team member.

The conference table is strewn with half-empty water bottles, White House-branded paper cups, colorful highlighters, and thick binders. Caine has one in front of him, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe is seen with papers and a binder of his own, though his documents appear intentionally blurred, likely for security reasons.

Also present were senior officials not considered principals. In one photo, Dan Scavino, Trump’s ever-present deputy chief of staff, is visible in the background. In another, White House Counsel David Warrington appears.

The Situation Room itself looks different from Trump’s first term. The facility—located in the basement of the West Wing—underwent a major $50 million renovation, completed in 2023.
