Swedish furniture giant IKEA is ramping up its U.S. expansion in 2025, with plans to open six new locations by the end of the year, a company spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY. This comes after the brand already launched five new U.S. locations earlier this year. Early plans are also underway to open at least two more stores in 2026, with the potential for additional sites.

As of the end of fiscal year 2024, IKEA operated 51 stores, 10 Plan & Order points, and 39 pick-up locations across the United States.

Unlike IKEA’s traditional large-format stores, Plan & Order points provide personalized assistance for more complex furnishing needs such as kitchens, bathrooms, and closet systems. Many of these locations also include pick-up points, allowing customers to collect purchases at their convenience.

  • Cherry Hill, Pennsylvania – Opening June
  • Beaverton, Oregon – Opening June
  • Hunt Valley, Maryland – Opening July

This year, IKEA is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its first U.S. store, which opened in suburban Philadelphia in 1985.

Reflecting on the company’s growth, Rob Olsen, Chief Operating Officer of IKEA U.S., stated: “At IKEA, our mission is to become more accessible, convenient, and affordable for people across the United States. Our expansion strategy is driven by a clear goal: to meet customers where they are, however and whenever they choose to shop with us.

That means investing in new store formats like Plan & Order points, launching smaller-format locations, and enhancing our digital platforms to better serve customers in the places they live, work, and shop.
