Before the US launched a barrage of military strikes in Yemen in March, the defense secretary sent detailed information about the planned attacks to a private Signal group chat that he created himself, which included his wife, his brother and about a dozen other people.

This comes almost a month after a journalist was inadvertently was added to an unsecure group chat in which US national security officials planned a military strike in Yemen. The top internal investigative office at the Pentagon is probing allegations that Pete Hegseth used the commercially available messaging app Signal to discuss classified information about a US military strike in Yemen.
