How Prince William plans to solve Royal family's 'Andrew problem'
Prince William plans to permanently exclude Prince Andrew from royal duties when he becomes king. Royal experts say William is determined to resolve the Andrew problem. This stems from Andrew's association with Jeffrey Epstein and the resulting sc...

British royal commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that William has maintained a “strained and distant relationship” with his uncle and holds a longstanding grudge over the scandals that have tarnished the royal family’s image. “Andrew’s future within the royal family is beyond bleak,” Fordwich said, adding that William “wants Andrew to vanish from public view” and sees no path to public rehabilitation.
These sentiments were echoed by BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, who told Closer Weekly that William has no intention of wasting time or energy on Andrew. She noted that the prince has been a key voice in keeping his uncle out of the public eye, underscoring his belief that there is “no way back” for the Duke of York.
Once second in line to the throne, Prince Andrew has been engulfed in scandal following his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. His 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, intended to clear his name, backfired disastrously. The prince failed to convincingly explain his ongoing relationship with Epstein or express empathy for the victims, leading to widespread backlash. Shortly after, he stepped down from public duties and was later stripped of his military titles and royal patronages.
Further damage was inflicted when Andrew settled a civil sexual abuse lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre, a victim of Epstein, for a reported multimillion-pound sum in 2022. Although Andrew denied the allegations, the settlement raised questions about accountability and transparency.
The fallout has been extensive, with Andrew’s reputation now viewed as irreparable by many within royal circles. William, reportedly driven by a desire to protect the monarchy’s integrity and future, has taken a firm stance to ensure his uncle remains out of the spotlight. Royal watchers believe that once William becomes king, Andrew’s exile from royal life will be final and complete.
