'The Golden Bachelor' alum Theresa Nist revealed her ex-husband, Gerry Turner, once threatened to kill and dismember her, claiming it revealed underlying animosity. Despite the disturbing statement, Nist didn't believe he would actually harm her. ...

"I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘Well, that’s where I’m going to hide your body after I kill you and chop you up, and he wasn't laughing. I said, 'Well, if this was his idea of a joke, that was pretty dark humor.'
"I just felt like there was animosity in that statement that was underlying," she said. "Like, maybe if he could have gotten rid of me somehow." She said she didn't believe he would have actually killed her.
"No, I don’t think that was true. It’s not true, but it just spoke to an underlying feeling about me," she said.

Was Gerry Turner expressing hostility?
Theresa Nist believes Turner was expressing some sort of hidden hostility toward her. “I just felt like there was animosity in that statement that was underlying,” she said. “Like, maybe if he could have gotten rid of me somehow.”Their love story, however, was short-lived. Just three months after their wedding, they announced their divorce.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and looked closely at our situation,” Turner told Good Morning America viewers. “We’ve mutually decided it’s probably time to dissolve our marriage.”

Theresa Nist on her love life
Despite the split, Nist urged viewers to stay hopeful about finding love later in life. “We’ve received so much love and support from people who watched The Golden Bachelor, and so many said it gave them hope,” she said. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”Both Nist and Turner were previously married and widowed, each with children from their late spouses. During their brief marriage, they continued living separately — Nist in New Jersey and Turner in Indiana — to stay near their families. The long-distance arrangement ultimately didn’t work.

“I wish he had said something and just ended it,” she said. “At least now I understand why he was so hurtful to me so many times. And I will say this — those in glass houses should not throw stones. I do wish him all the best.” Turner has since moved on and is now engaged to Lana Sutton. The couple announced their engagement in October.
