Microsoft working on Halo 7? Report claims Halo 2, 3 too are being made for Playstation. Here's what we know

At present, neither Microsoft nor Halo Studios has confirmed any development of Halo 2 or Halo 3 remakes.
Following the official announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved—a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved slated for a 2026 launch including a PS5 release—new rumors suggest that Halo 2 and Halo 3 could be the next in line for similar treatment. The leaks come from the X account @leaks_infinite, a well-known source who accurately revealed details about the Campaign Evolved project prior to its confirmation, lending credibility to the latest claims.

According to the leaks, Halo 2 and Halo 3 are expected to receive complete campaign-focused remakes developed by Halo Studios. The remakes will reportedly feature updated mechanics, including sprinting—something absent from the original titles—but will not include multiplayer modes.

"It's possible they're using Halo Campaign Evolved to judge whether a Halo 2 & 3 remake would be viable, but this is just guessing," the leakster said.

The omission of multiplayer is said to be a deliberate decision to keep the focus on Halo 7, the next mainline entry in the franchise, which will reportedly host all future multiplayer experiences.

The insider claimed that having multiple Halo games offering multiplayer options could fragment the player base and dilute the competitive community. Instead, Halo Studios plans to consolidate its efforts into a unified multiplayer experience under Halo 7. This move aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategic shift following the Halo: Campaign Evolved reveal at the 2025 Halo World Championships.

While Halo Leaks initially stated that remakes for Halo 2 and Halo 3 were already underway, later comments suggested that the studio might still be gauging the community’s response to Campaign Evolved before proceeding. This ambiguity has left fans divided over whether the projects are currently in production or still under consideration.

The rumored focus on single-player storytelling, however, has generated excitement among long-time fans, many of whom regard Halo 2’s narrative as one of the strongest in the series. Still, the absence of the franchise’s hallmark multiplayer has sparked debate over whether these remakes will truly capture the full Halo experience.

At present, neither Microsoft nor Halo Studios has confirmed any development of Halo 2 or Halo 3 remakes. However, given the momentum surrounding Halo: Campaign Evolved and the anticipation for Halo 7, official news could arrive in the coming months.
