GTA V has been popular among gamers
Rockstar Games has sold 5 million units of GTA V in yet another quarter, continuing the success of the gaming company's open world games. This is remarkable given the hype being built for GTA 6. Both the previous games, including Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2 are selling like gangbusters.

In its latest financial report, publisher Take Two confirmed that GTA V has sold-in 215 million units, up from 210 in the last quarterly report. This includes some physical stock being held by retailers that has not yet been sold through to consumers. Take-Two reported another 5 million copies of GTA V sold every single quarter this year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has also sold 4 million copies sold in the past three months. The game is the "best-selling title of the past 7 years in the US based on dollar sales."

This is despite Rockstar effectively abandoning RDR 2 and has not updated the game in a long time.

There's no such shortage of content for GTA Online, however. During yesterday's investor Q&A, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick called GTA 5 the "standard-bearer for our industry."
