GTA 6 preview drops on Netflix: Guns, car chases, Vice City and Jason-Lucia’s Bonnie and Clyde story revealed

Rockstar Games has unveiled GTA 6 on Netflix, giving fans their first look at the long-awaited entry in the Grand Theft Auto series through a 26-minute preview.

GTA 6 will arrive on November 19, after a delay pushed it beyond its original late-2025 release window.

GTA 6 takes players back to Vice City with Jason and Lucia

The GTA 6 preview is set in Vice City, the Miami-inspired setting. It opens with Jason fleeing a drug bust with a red duffel bag, accompanied by Lucia, his new partner.

GTA 6 also offers a glimpse of the relationship between its central characters. On-screen symbols suggest players can make Jason and Lucia hold hands. The pair has been compared with Bonnie and Clyde, the American outlaw couple from the early 20th century who robbed banks and were later ambushed and killed by police.

GTA 6 preview shows car chases and shootouts

The GTA 6 footage moves between car chases, a strip club, rooftop meetings and shootouts, showing different parts of the world players will enter when GTA 6 launches.

However, the GTA 6 preview caused problems for some Netflix users. People in different parts worldwide reported outages on Thursday as the footage became available. The preview is due on YouTube later.

Netflix and Rockstar have worked together before, with previous GTA titles made available through Netflix's mobile gaming service.

GTA 6 leak prompts Rockstar legal action against Microsoft, Discord

The latest highly anticipated GTA 6 reveal follows a fresh leak. Clips began appearing online on August 18, prompting Rockstar to call the incident "heartbreaking."

"This is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time," Rockstar said in a statement posted on social media.

Rockstar has since taken legal action over the GTA 6 leaks. The company secured court orders on Friday requiring Microsoft and Discord to provide data that could help identify their source. Two federal judges in New York approved the subpoena requests, filed the previous day, according to court documents reviewed by AFP.

The leaks have been linked to an account using the pseudonym Cyberleek. Its author or authors claim to be exposing business practices within the video game industry.

GTA 6 faces pricing and physical-copy backlash as launch nears

GTA 6 has also faced controversy over the GTA 6 release. Rockstar parent Take-Two angered fans earlier this year by deciding not to offer physical copies. Take-Two has also faced criticism over a more expensive version of GTA 6 with additional content.

GTA 5, the previous mainline game, launched in 2013 and has sold more than 200 million copies. The number of pre-orders for GTA 6 remains unknown.

Interest in GTA 6 has reached the US military. Last week, a US Army unit offered soldiers four days off to play GTA 6 if reenlisting, according to a memo reported by Task & Purpose.

So far, 20 of the 130 eligible soldiers have reportedly accepted the offer. The latest GTA 6 preview arrives with huge expectations and continuing controversy.
