The game introduces a new protagonist, Atsu, a mercenary seeking revenge against the “Yōtei Six,” who destroyed her home and killed her family sixteen years earlier. With cinematic combat, an emotional storyline, and a visual style inspired by film and anime, many fans had sky-high expectations.
Initial reactions, however, have been mixed. On X (formerly Twitter), some players praised it as a masterpiece, with one saying: “Ghost of Yotei is a work of art. Thanks to its stunning visuals, dynamic camera angles, and fluid combat, every moment feels like a scene from a movie or a painting.”
But others were far less impressed. One frustrated player wrote: “Once trash, always trash. PlayStation still can’t fix the same bugs from Ghost of Tsushima—my character just walks through trees and rocks. Total flop.” Another criticized the inclusion of nude scenes, calling it unnecessary.
Not all the feedback was negative. A gamer highlighted its lightning-fast performance: “From the PS5 home screen to open-world exploration in just seven seconds—no loading screens at all. Fastest I’ve ever seen.”
Ghost of Yotei weighs around 85 GB and comes in three editions:
- Standard ($70): Base game + pre-order mask & avatars.
- Digital Deluxe ($80): Extra cosmetics, horse skin, sword kit, and in-game perks.
- Collector’s ($250): Includes deluxe bonuses plus a replica Ghost Mask, katana tsuba, sash, papercraft tree, and premium art cards.
