A former royal staffer says Meghan Markle likely won't live in the UK again. According to Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles from 2004 to 2011, Markle prefers life in the United States.
Markle and Prince Harry left their senior royal roles in 2020 and moved to California with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
Harrold thinks Markle might visit the UK for holidays. "I just think Meghan's too much of an American girl, she doesn't want to be in the U.K. permanently," the staffer was quoted as saying by the Mirror. "I can see her coming over for the holidays and having time over here, but living here permanently? I just don't see it," he added.
While Harrold doubts Markle's permanent return, he thinks Prince Harry might be more open to it, although he considers it "highly unlikely." He added, "As I always keep saying, never say never."
Author Omid Scobie, in his book "Endgame," claimed that Markle "never wants to set foot" in the UK again, feeling she "never really felt at home" there and doesn't want to be involved with the British monarchy.
Harry has returned to the UK several times since moving, including a visit after his father's cancer diagnosis. Amid tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family remain high, Harry has even expressed his intention to maintain ties with the UK. During a Good Morning America interview, he said, “I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”
On the other hand, Markle's last UK visit was in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.
